FLAUNT Magazine Summary
During my time with FLAUNT my main duties included working directly with the Creative Director, Art Director, and Managing Editor in generating layouts from early stages of production to the final layout for issues 88–97. I worked with the Production Manager on custom advertising projects—from designing mock-ups to be sent for approval to the finished layout showcasing dynamic printing techniques such as emboss, diecuts, and magazine sleeves. I trafficked and formatted all images and also printed all proofs in-house checking for overall quality. I assisted Art Director in the selection of each issue’s cover artist and developed an archival system for past issues. I rebuilt templates for all sections of the magazine, as well as all character and paragraph styles. I also created and updated each issue’s pagination while circulating copies throughout the office.
While I was with the art department, the magazine was named one of three finalists, chosen out of 2,800 entries, for a prestigious FOLIO Award in the categories of Best Full Issue of a General Interest Magazine and Best Single Article in a Consumer Entertainment Magazine. The magazine also received three awards from PRINT for Excellence in Design, as well as a medal for editorial design from the Art Director's Club. FLAUNT is a completely independent magazine published 10 times a year and distributed in over 32 countries. It's categorized as a lifestyle publication covering topics relevant to fashion, art, film, music, media, and literature.
